Job Description

Software Team Leader (Java / Kotlin Android App Development)Newly created role for a hands-on Software Team Leader to lead a team of engineers as well as contributing to the development of real-time software components.Experience and Skills:

  • Proven leadership, influencing and reporting skills with recent line management of engineers
  • Strong Java and Kotlin App development experience, acquired on commercial Android projects
  • Use of MVVM design pattern and Android architecture components
  • Good understanding of the Android architecture and ecosystem
  • Automated unit and instrumentation testing
  • Good understanding of the Android SDK and APIs
  • Experience of developing for mobile platforms
  • Experience of the full software development life-cycle (from requirements through to system test)
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications, debuggers, emulators, configuration management tools (preferably GIT etc.)
Desirable:
  • Good experience of embedded C/C++ software development, ideally on embedded Linux real time systems
  • Experience of software development utilising telecommunications standards
  • Understanding of the Android low level system architecture
  • Experience optimising Android performance
  • Experience of creating/maintaining build processes for Android platforms (Gradle)
  • Knowledge of security issues at a product level (appreciation of the role of hardware and software)
