Job Description

Software Support EngineerThe RoleThere will be opportunities for application development in PL/SQL and Python and to contribute to the overall Development operations processes for the PARIS team. PARIS is developed using an agile methodology and you will have tasks as part of the sprintcycles which are run using a Kanban framework.As an integral member of the PARIS team you will work with the wider department to ensure we deliver an unrivalled solution for our customers, while reporting directly to the Support Team Leader.Customer engagement is central to this role and you will have shared responsibility for managing customer expectations with regards to support based activities. We are happy to discuss the option of flexible working in line with the requirements of providingSupport as agreed with PARIS customers.Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for managing and prioritise customer service requests through various means used to raise support requests.
  • Investigate, respond to and progress customer issues and queries to a successful conclusion
  • Develop software to connect customers own systems and 3rd party systems to/from PARIS
  • Develop solutions in PL/SQL and Python
  • Develop tools, scripts and pipelines as required for the DevOps processes alongside the rest of the team from time to time
  • Conduct testing of the system during deployment phases, determining whether components and systems meet user requirements
  • Develop Training material
  • Lead training sessions for customers
Who are we looking forSuitable applicants will have:
  • Working knowledge of programming in the Python programming language as a minimum
  • Knowledge of MS Windows and MS Windows server / MS Excel
  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs A*-C grades (or equivalent) including English, Maths, Science
  • IT qualification or related subject. In lieu of this, suitable experience will be considered
  • Be self-motivated and able to work on own initiative and as part of a team, prioritising work based on demands of the department and own workload
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
It would be advantageous to have:
  • Knowledge of Oracle, SQL, and developing in PL/SQL
  • Knowledge of programming in the Python programming language
  • Knowledge of working with task tracking systems and ticket systems
