Job Description

Software EngineerAs a Software Engineer you will work within Unipart Digital’s Data Science Team to develop applications and features using: Python, JavaScript, as well as HTML5 and CSS.You will build, customise, and maintain both backend and frontend applications using open-source tools. This will include: Business Intelligence platforms, advanced analytics applications, dashboards and data visualisation applications; as well as custom ETL pipelines. You will be responsible for ensuring that clean, robust, and pragmatic code is delivered and maintained.Software Engineer Requirements:

  • Be an expert in Python, including automated testing techniques and technologies
  • Have a deep and applied understanding of software engineering fundamentals: version control (git), shell scripting, OOP, unit and integration testing as well as TDD, DevOps best practices, architecture and interfaces design and common design patterns. Experience with a low-level language (such as C) is a bonus
  • Be familiar with high-performance Python libraries (such as Numba) as well as multithreading/multiprocessing
  • Be familiar with web development frameworks, for example: Flask, Django, Plotly Dash or ReactJS
  • Have experience working with relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL) and interacting with databases using Python (Alembic, SQLAlchemy)
  • Have an understanding of modern frontend development, including: HTML5, CSS and ES6+ JavaScript (ReactJS is a bonus)
  • Importantly, you will demonstrate the ability to learn effectively and autonomously, find, evaluate and use potential tools and solutions; contribute to the fast-paced business environment; and share knowledge and best practices with your team
