Job Description

Senior Tax Analyst - VATTo be successful in the role you will have some experience working as a Tax Analyst, ideally with a focus on VAT or Indirect Tax. You will have excellent knowledge of VAT filings in several jurisdictions across EMEA and will be able to advise on indirect taxregulations to ensure best practices.The role:As Senior Tax Analyst, you will support the VAT and Indirect Tax ("VAT") process for the EMEA region. You will prepare and complete tax returns and reports, particularly VAT as well as other indirect taxes. Additionally, your role will support the VAT Managerwhen advising and partnering with the business on VAT impact and consequences.Responsibilities:Support the VAT Manager who has overall responsibility for Indirect Taxes in the region both from a compliance and advisory perspective.Ensure periodic VAT, Intrastat, and EC Sales compliance reporting including ensuring the group fulfills its filing and payment obligations in all indirect tax matters. This will be a mixture of in-house completion as well as working with outsourced providers.Drive process improvements, including automation of compliance and ensuring the best use of existing or new technology solutions where possible and appropriate.Perform root cause analysis for any errors and then mitigate this cause. This may include designing or amending systems or processes and/or providing training to colleagues.Dealing with indirect tax audits, correspondence, and notices from tax authorities.Reviewing changes in the legislation and indirect tax matters to ensure the business correctly reports indirect taxes.Understand the structure of the business in the region and work with the Regional Tax Team to advise and educate commercial and support colleagues on VAT matters.Contribute indirect tax comments as part of any overall tax advice provided to stakeholders, e.g., in respect of taxes on system improvements/acquisitions & new entities.To work with a significant degree of autonomy, subject to briefing the Tax Manager on all significant indirect tax issues as they arise.To manage risk by maintaining a good working relationship with tax authorities and by keeping close links with the business to identify at an early stage any areas of concern.Advise and partner with relevant stakeholders on indirect tax matters (e.g., accounting, GIS, commercial, supply chain, trade compliance, etc.)Preferred Requirements:Good experience with SAP (or equivalent ERP system) and tax engine (Vertex or equivalent) preferred.Strong knowledge of VAT and indirect tax regulations and requirements, ideally in multiple EMEA jurisdictionsExcellent attention to detail required.Must be capable of analysing large quantities of data, particularly in SpreadsheetsExcellent written and oral communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required, with strong excel skillsPreferred Education/Experience:Bachelors degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related field desired.
