Job Description

Senior Scientist - Drug Delivery NanoparticlesLocation: CambridgeContract: Full-time and permanentSector: BiotechnologySalary: DOE £28,000 - £45,000Our client is an innovative biotechnology company based outside of the centre of Cambridge. They have built a platform to synthesis DNA which provides exciting possibilities for ensuring cheaper, faster and more accurate DNA / gene constructs than traditionalplasmid-based methods. In a key phase of their growth, our client is looking to onboard a highly experienced Nanoparticle expert on a full-time and permanent basis.The OpportunityThis is an opportunity for an experienced nanoparticle scientist who has a strong background in the use of nanoparticles as drug deliver vectors who is looking for the next step in their career. If this is you, this opportunity could be for you. As a SeniorScientist you will be responsible for:

  • Development of nanoparticle drug delivery formulations.
  • Development of nanoparticles which house DNA/RNA for use in gene therapy.
  • Analysing formulations using biophysical techniques (DLS, SPR, SEM / TEM, etc)
  • Create research proposals and plans - taking a leading role.
  • Supporting technical staff with laboratory procedures.
  • Working in a collaborative environment on projects that will expand beyond nanoparticles.
Skills and Experience NeededThe ideal candidate will have the following:
  • PhD in a biological discipline + industry experience (ideal), or a BSc/MSc + several years of industry experience in nanoparticle formulation and cell biology.
  • Expertise in non-viral drug delivery systems such as nanoparticles (essential)
  • Biophysical characterisation experience i.e. SPR, DLS, Electron microscopy, etc) (essential)
  • Analytical experience using HPLC (desired)
  • Scale up of nanoparticle formulation (desired)
  • Strong time management and organisational skills (essential)
  • Excellent communication skills (essential)
