Job Description

Senior Electronics Development EngineerSenior Electronics Development Engineer based in Cambridge.Key Responsibilities of Senior Electronics Development Engineer:The development of product electronics and firmware for the range of products.To be a significant contributor to the design, development, and deployment of new products based around the core platform. As part of the development team, we are working closely with the other senior engineers and Technical Director to create market-driven product solutions.

  • Undertake design of cost-effective reliable electronic circuits for laboratory equipment and data loggers including the relevant documentation and configuration control.
  • Undertake design of cost-effective reliable Firmware for laboratory equipment and loggers including the relevant documentation and configuration control.
  • Generation of all the required documentation to enable the designs to be realised, tested and transferred into production.
  • Development, build and test of proof-of-principle, prototype and B Model circuits and sub-assemblies, including integration testing. Experience of building complete prototype products would be an advantage.
    • Key Requirements of Senior Electronics Development Engineer:Degree level with an Electronics degree or equivalentKNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE
  • Experience of designing electronic circuits including:
    • o Measurement circuits and A to D converterso Microprocessor and microcontroller circuitso Motor drive electronicso Physical user interfaces including keypads and displayso Power control circuits including TRIACs and H Bridgeso Schematic captureo Technical aspects of PCB layout design for low noise, EMC etc.o Experience of complete PCB design process including various PCB layout packages an advantage.
  • Experience of developing firmware including:
    • o C/C++, LINUXo Use real time operating systems such as ThreadX, FreeRTOS, CMXo Producing graphical or textual user interfaces that are intuitiveo Use Arm Cortex, Arm 7, Arm 9, TI MSP430, Renesas M16C, 8051, PIC processorso Use interrupts and write bare metal driverso Producing properly documented code and using version control
  • Familiarity with and experience of working to relevant standards that may influence the design, production and service of the products e.g. IEC 61010, IEC 60335, IEC 61000, IEC 61326 (and their regional counterparts as necessary), FCC 47 part 15,
  • Understanding of Control Theory and PID systems and evidence of applying this knowledge to real designs.
  • Experience of working with software engineers to create complete integrated systems.
