Job Description

We are looking to recruit a professional with a proven background in the formulation development of biologics. This role will hold responsibility for multiplex projects from pre-clinical to late clinical phases of development.Responsibilities

  • Representing Early Stage Formulation Sciences in cross-functional teams in the design and development of biologic patient centric dosage forms including generation of development plans and strategies that are feasible from a scientific, clinical and manufacturing perspective
  • Authoring and review of regulatory applications, clinical documentation and support of regulatory responses
  • Applies technical knowledge to improvement projects and the evaluation of new technology/processes
  • Assesses, reviews and reports data from own work and work of junior colleagues, with a clear understanding of its reliability and interprets findings and draws authoritative conclusions and recommendations so that their significance can be appreciated
  • Provides training/guidance to junior scientists on technical and functional processes and has interest/capability to become a subject matter expert in multiple analytical techniques
    • Position Requirements
  • Expertise in development of biologic formulations and knowledge of analytical characterisation of proteins
  • Knowledge of CMC and cross-functional biopharmaceutical development
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple groups on technical projects, exhibiting self-initiative and commitment to results
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements for biopharmaceutical development
  • Experience, understanding and troubleshooting of routinely used analytical techniques (HPLC, light scattering techniques including CG-MALS, UV-vis spectroscopy, HIAC, MFI, DSC, Rheometer, CD, Fluorescence) for formulation development is highly desired.
  • Expertise in lyophilization and freeze-thaw technology development and that impact the critical quality attributes of the product during early as well as late stage of formulation development.
  • Candidate will also be involved in spray drying development and support on inhaled biologics formulation development initiatives.
  • Knowledge and experience in automation techniques for formulation development is highly desired.
  • Experience with laboratory management and good knowledge of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality and compliance standards, e.g. Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
    • .EducationBS, MS or PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, biochemical engineering or related fieldJob Complexity:
  • Complex position involving hands-on technical work for protein formulation and freeze-drying technology development.
  • Position requires a thorough understanding of scientific method, protein biochemistry, spray-drying and freeze-drying principles and characterization techniques.
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills are also required.
  • Candidate will be expected to manage multiple projects simultaneously, appropriately prioritize their work, and work with often-changing timelines.
    • Supervision: Encouraged to work independently with limited supervision. Will be provided with broad general goals and will be expected to strategically propose, plan and execute to meet portfolio deliverables.Additional Note(s):
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in spray-drying, freeze-drying and/or freeze-thaw characterization (mDSC, freeze-dry microscopy, KF) and process development, optimization, scale-up and technology transfer.
