Job Description

Sales ManagerCambridge£45,000 - £55,000 plus excellent packageVodafone, EE & Nokia are all household names. Well, they are if your household has an interest in telecoms anyway. As a Sales Manager, you may look at these companies now and wonder what it was like when they started. Maybe you’ve imagined how cool it would have been to have worked at Vodafone in 1991 when they emerged from Racal. Perhaps being at Nokia in the late 90’s when they came up with the 3210 for fashion conscious consumers would have been fun. Probably, you’re glad you weren’t involved with the demise of Symbian when it got overtaken by Apple & Android.None of these companies started as the huge beasts they are today. They began as a small team of technically talented people who delivered a fantastic service. How great would it be if an opportunity like that came up againHave a look around the telecoms firm where you’re currently working in sales. Are there any progression opportunities for you Could you put your many years of business development to better useOur client is a smaller operator with major-league ambitions. They are well financed and set to grow significantly over the next couple of years. Those growth plans start with this key role of Sales Manager, and that’s where you come in.Bringing your knowledge of business development within telecoms, you’ll own the sales department. You’ll have the opportunity to use your relationship building and business development to the maximum. If you have experience within the fibre network as well, that would be very useful.Previous relationship building with Ericsson would be highly beneficial. As the company grows, you’ll have increasing opportunities to steer the company strategically. For example, leading teams, specifying the overall direction of the sales function and providing guidance for your colleagues with your years of experience within the telecoms sector. You probably expect a company like this to be in the centre of London, but they aren’t. They’re well outside the capital (although close enough for a cheeky Nandos if the need arises), so there’s no painful commute involved. There are many more aspects of this role to discuss, so please contact Mike Steel in the first instance. We know you’re probably in a role already and may not have a current CV, but don’t worry, we can come back to that. Let’s have a chat first. Required skills
