Job Description

Flexible working and great benefits package.Your new companyNodThera is a clinical-stage biotechnology company specialising in the discovery and development of new therapies for chronic inflammation related diseases. An opportunity has arisen within the company for a strong Medicinal and/or Synthetic Organic Chemist to join our small and high-achieving team. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to and supporting all activities within the MedicinalChemistry team associated with advancing the ground-breaking project portfolio. This is a tremendous opportunity to join an established biotechnology company operating in a cutting-edge and evolving area of research. The role would suit an ambitious, forward thinking individual looking to expand their career outside of the laboratory. Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Analyse and interpret scientific data from multiple sources, utilising the results to guide the design and development of future targets and experiments
  • Carry out literature and patent searches
  • Drafting of patents and experimental procedures
  • Support collaborating synthetic chemistry CROs; to ensure smooth progression of targets, troubleshoot reactions and advise on the development of synthetic routes
  • Maintain and improve compound databases
  • Support and engage with other outsourced activities
  • Develop scientific knowledge as appropriate to the role and the area of research
Requirements:
  • Degree and/or PhD (or equivalent experience) in Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry or a related subject
  • Experience in small molecule drug discovery ideally gained within a Pharmaceutical or Biotech setting is preferable, although new graduates are encouraged to apply
  • Familiarity with contemporary small molecule Medicinal Chemistry principles, DMPK, ADMET and Pharmacology
  • Skilled Synthetic Organic Chemist with deep rooted knowledge of modern synthetic routes and analytical methods
  • Track record of contribution toward the design and synthesis of drug-like molecules
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; organised and with high attention to detail both written and verbal
  • Initiative and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong desire to advance career working in a fast-paced biotech environment, demonstrating a willingness to be adaptable to the potential of changing roles and responsibilities
  • Familiarity with relevant software such as Dotmatics would be beneficial
