An ideal position for someone with previous marketing/product management experience with Molecular Biologyproducts to join a well-established and rapidly growing distributor of life science research products.You will take responsibility for the management and success of the Molecular Biology portfolio. You will set the long-term vision and strategy for the growth of your portfolio using data analysis, market research and by working with and supporting the key internalstakeholders (marketing, sales, customer service/finance) to develop and implement these strategies.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesPortfolio management- Have a strong understanding of your portfolio as a whole- Identify opportunities (accounts, products, ranges, suppliers, tenders) from your existing portfolio using data analysis, market research and by working with key internal stakeholders (marketing, sales, customer service/finance)- Assess market competition compared to identified opportunitiesSupplier management- Create and maintain positive, productive and profitable partnerships with your suppliers- Communicate clearly and regularly, meeting the needs of each individual supplier- Set clear expectations for reporting and deliver on these expectationsMarket and portfolio analysis and new supplier identification- Identify new, emerging and fast developing markets- Analyse these markets and assess suitability - Identify gaps in your existing portfolio- Identify new suppliers/products to meet identified market needs and fill gaps in your existing portfolioSupplier acquisition- Research and identify the wants and needs of a new potential supplier and match the companys strengths to their needs- Create proposals that promote the company as a strong distribution partnerStakeholder support (internal and external)- Inspire and enthuse internal and external stakeholders about your portfolio, creating strong, positive relationships- Meet regularly with internal stakeholders, including marketing, sales and customer service/finance, to support and follow up agreed strategies- Support the sales team on the negotiation of high value opportunities, including securing favourable supplier pricing- Provide internal (sales/marketing) sales and technical training as requiredPerson Specification- Either a Ph.D. or extensive experience and knowledge of relevant molecular biology techniques- Extensive knowledge of the life science reagent market developed from a marketing/product management background- A deep understanding of distribution channels and collaboration structures in this industry- A passion for new life science technologies and the ability to determine which of these will be of greatest future importance- Be results orientated with the drive to set and meet agreed objectives
