CK Group are working in partnership with a biotechnology company to recruit a Principal Scientist with expertise in protein production and purification, to join them at their site based in Cambridge on a permanent basis, with the flexibility of hybridworking.The Company:An exciting opportunity to join a growing scientific team, for a company that is passionate about driving scientific discoveries to cure debilitating diseases.Rewards:A company that wants their employees to fulfil their career aspirations, which is why they offer competitive compensation plus bonus, pension, life assurance, share options, generous annual leave, health and wellbeing support, medical cover, cycle to work and/orelectric car scheme.Role and Responsibilities:- Lead a small team of talented scientists whose responsibility is to express, purify and characterise ecombinant proteins and antibodies- Collaborate with cross-functional groups to develop, optimise, and validate processes to improve quality, efficiency, throughput, and cost.- Develop strategies for increased protein throughput and yield- Develop and implement QC activities- Design and optimise protein expression and purification protocolsYour Background:- Strong academic background (PhD) in protein chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, (or a related discipline) and relevant industry experience.- Experience as a Scientist in protein production and purification (5 years+), coupled with leadership skills- Thorough knowledge in bioanalytical characterisation of proteins.- Knowledge in the topic of protein misfolding and aggregation. In particular, experience with amyloid forming proteins is valuable.- Experience in automation and assay development- Experience working in start-ups supporting drug discoveryApply:Entitlement to work in the UK is essential.
