Job Description

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an organic chemist to join an innovative organisation whose goal is to create a greener future through solar technology. As an organic chemist you will play a pivotal role within this business by synthesising new organic materials with improved properties that will contribute towards raising the system performance and as a result achieve the requirements for commercial applications.To be successful as a organic chemist you should hold either a Masters or PhD qualification in Chemistry or closely related discipline and possess organic chemistry experience gained withing a research OR commercial laboratory.Organic Chemist Key Responsibilities:

  • Co-developing novel materials with energetic, spectral and functional characteristics.
  • Synthesis of conjugated small molecules and polymers from 100mg to multi-gram scale batches.
  • Developing and optimising synthetic routes for target materials.
  • Performing basic optical and physical characterization (UV/Vis Absorption, PL, XRD etc.).
  • Organic Chemist Requirements:
  • Ideally hold a MSc OR PhD in Organic Synthesis, Chemistry or closely related discipline.
  • Experience in conjugated small molecule or polymer synthesis and purification.
  • Ability to independently and effectively communicate and interact with team members and collaborators.
  • Experience using standard optical/physical characterisation techniques for synthesised organic materials (e.g. NMR, UV-Vis, PL, XRD).
  • Good record keeping and health and safety practices in a chemistry laboratory environment.
