Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer required to join an exciting company that specialise in manufacturing Espresso machines. They are looking for a highly creative and resourceful engineer that will be working primarily in the operations team, helping to reimagine theirin-house production methods with the aim of establishing robust quality control systems, whilst unlocking higher levels of productivity.Manufacturing Engineer Position Overview

  • Making improvements to the data collection and analysis methods, used to inform quality control and assurance.
  • Introducing high impact changes to the production methods, tools and machinery to systematically drive out variability, reduce costs and ultimately improve customer satisfaction. (For example; helping the company move to single piece flow production, introducingmultiple robotic production cells, helping to build a production line in which customers can request specific configurations of their machine)
  • Ensuring sufficient staff training has been carried out to match the workflow and output documented for each process.
  • Managing the maintenance schedules of all on-site plant and machinery (CNC lathe, CNC mill, Screw air compressor, fume extraction system, vibro-barrelling machine).
  • Taking the lead on new plant and machinery investments; spotting opportunities, undertaking ROI calculations, defining equipment specifications, and carrying out the installation, commissioning and training.
  • Assisting production staff by building custom in-house improvements to plant, machinery and tooling, using our workshop facilities to deliver rapid, cost effective and optimised upgrades.
Manufacturing Engineer Position Requirements
  • Have a higher-level degree in engineering, or equivalent industrial experience.
  • Are curious, inquisitive and creative. Ideally youd be the kind of person who loves to take things apart to understand how they work, and how they are made.
  • Have something close to an obsession with high quality manufacturing, and truly understand the importance of consistency in process optimisation and customer satisfaction.
  • Have a deep interest in manufacturing technology and are well versed in common mass production manufacturing methods.
  • Like making things, and have a high level of practical experience, knowledge and resourcefulness in the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.
  • Have a high level of skill with common workshop tools, as well as experience using either a CNC lathe or milling machine. Demonstrated by tangible examples of your work.
  • Have a reasonable level of skill with a CAD system (preferably SolidWorks).
  • Have a reasonable working knowledge of electronics, as well as single and three phase power distribution.
  • Have a reasonable working knowledge of at least one programming language. (e.g. Matlab, Python, JavaScript etc.)
  • Attain a high level of attention to detail and have a highly methodical, tidy and structured approach to work.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to challenge yourself, with enthusiasm, drive and ambition.
  • Have excellent communication skills, and enjoy working within a team.
Manufacturing Engineer Position Remuneration
  • Full time - Permanent position
  • Salary - £41,000 - £56,000 (DEO)
  • Team lunch every Friday, on the company, along with a fridge stocked with drinks of your choice.
  • Flexible working arrangements are possible
  • 33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
