Job Description

We are looking to engage with candidates within the construction industry that are looking for a new challenge! This is a great opportunity to join our client’s preconstruction team dealing with Bids, Tenders and Take Offs. To be suitable for this role you will have previous experience of working as an Estimator within the Construction industry and confident in working on tenders for the value of up to £8million.Start: ASAPLocation: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire Salary: Circa £35,000Hours: Monday - Friday: 7.30am - 16.45pmDuration: Permanent Benefits: Company pension contribution, 29 days holiday less BHs and Company Xmas shutdown, life cover, profit related bonus, free parkingThis role will be to join an established team working on the development of several projects across the East Anglian region. To be suitable for this role you will hold knowledge in a range of building industry practices along with an up-to-date knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO4001. You will be a confident in communicating with a range of stakeholders at various levels.Duties:

  • Advising, preparing and winning new tenders for the business
  • Attend pre-tender and post tender interviews
  • Produce detailed and accurate tenders for all industry sectors
  • Liaise and support client engagement before, during and following the tender process
  • Prepare and ensure tender submissions are submitted accurately and on time
  • Conduct Take Offs and produce Bill of Quantities
  • Understand and scrutinise the supply chain quotations ensuring accuracy & value for money
  • Resolve cost discrepancies whilst maintaining profitability
  • Help to develop new business by introducing new tender opportunities
  • Have a thorough understanding of project, scope of works and restrictions
  • Assist with completing PQQs and ITTs
    • Skills and Experience Required:
  • Experience of working in an estimating/pre-construction department.
  • Construction related degree (preferred but not essential)
  • Full clean driving licence
  • Strong knowledge of building industry practices, processes and requirements
  • Up to date knowledge of health and safety matters including ISO9001 and ISO14001
  • Possess a good level of practical skill in the use estimating software (Conquest desirable)
