Job Description

Estates, Maintenance, Facilities and Safety Manager40-43kWe have a new opportunity for an Estates, Maintenance, Facilities and Safety Manager to join Excelcare. We are a privately owned care home group, and this would be to manage across 10 homes in Cambridge.There is a well established team and although travel would be required across the homes, the Regional Office and Regional Team are based out of our Buchan Care Home, in Cambridge CB4 2XL. You can see more about our homes here: https://care-homes/our-care-homes/cambridgeThe Estates, Maintenance, Facilities and Safety Manager will have excellent communication skills and be able to liaise with stakeholders at all levels. Delivering outstanding care to our residents is central to all we do and a large part of this is downto ensuring that the care or nursing home where they live is maintained to the highest standard to give it a home from home feel.Main responsibilities of the Estates, Maintenance, Facilities and Safety Manager:

  • Managing a team of Maintenance Operatives working on a variety of short- and longer-term projects.
  • Supervise the day to day running of the team, ensuring best practice and high standards of work finish.
  • To ensure work projects are completed in a timely manner to high standards
  • Able to liaise with families, home managers and residents when issues are reported, or you are trying to establish what is actually required.
  • Ensure that projects are completed within budgetary frameworks.
  • Attending and facilitating meetings to review progress of Maintenance Operatives and projects.
  • Ensure that scheduled and reactive maintenance/facilities work are dealt with as they arise
  • Provide Estates Management support and servicesliaising with external contractors to ensure cost effective solutions
  • Communicate maintenance and building management issues to the Maintenance Team so that team members have a clear understanding of what is required to complete the task
  • Approval of Purchase order requests and invoices.
  • Provide management information/reporting as required.
  • Assist in benchmarking and tendering exercises where appropriate.
  • Undertake related projects as required.
  • Carry out safety and security audits and risk assessments
  • Monitor all Maintenance and Building Management processes to ensure compliance and control for operational risk
  • Manage job allocations and meetings where needed
  • Management of fire safety checks
  • Assistance with fire risk assessment and statutory audits
  • Undertake PEEPs
About you:
  • Proven experience working in an Estates/Building Management/Facilities capacity ideally in the care home sector.
  • Experience in plumbing, electrical, joinery or gardening work is essential
  • Specialist skill or qualification in a building trade is preferable
  • Ability to use basic tools and operate equipment
  • Must have a full clean driving licence (Expenses will be re-imbursed_
  • Must be reliable and be able to communicate with residents and other members of staff
  • You will need your own vehicle and be a driver. Expenses and mileage will be paid
