Job Description

This is a fascinating position for a start up business based in Cambridge. Tec Partners are exclusively working with a robotics business who are looking for a Control Systems Engineer with a background in Robotics. You will have the opportunity to create adaptive robots that are able to operate in non-controllable environments. This is a fast-paced environment, where you will be collaborating with a close-knit team of Machine Learning Experts and Engineers that will be developing leading edge solutions, focused on the delivery of innovative technologies.Responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop, integrate, maintain and enhance controlling systems for FWR soft-robotic arms and actuators
  • Migrate current controlling system to ROS2 using C++, potentially making use of ros_control package
  • Support on the development of multi-robot controlling, communication and coordination
  • Test improvements on agricultural environments such as greenhouses and polytunnels
  • Work with robotic, mechanical and electronic teams to ensure optimised integration with other system components and the manufacturing process
  • Write documentation for requirements, test and programming instructions
  • Work with external partners to help maintain a classification process reliably and repeatedly
  • Work at all stages of the system development cycle from concept and requirements capture through to transfer to production.
  • Qualifications/Experience:The successful candidate will have most of the following:
  • Degree or HNC/HND in controlling engineering, robotics engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of industry experience developing control loops such as PID, MPC or similar
  • Basic experience of ROS/ROS2
  • Advance knowledge of C++, debugging and unit tests
  • Experience in some or all of the following: robot navigation and SLAM, electronics and PCB design, microcontroller programming, Linux.
  • Good problem solving, analytical and organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good team working ethic but able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision.
  • Good working knowledge of MS-Office tools.
