We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation, and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.Compliance Assistant Manager is a role dealing with complex and sensitive decisions upholding the integrity of our qualifications, supporting our customers and ensuring they have a voice in the process.Your primary focus as Compliance Assistant Manager will be on delivering OCRs appeal process for the variety of issues customers can challenge through it, including:
  • the accuracy of grades
  • malpractice sanctions
  • decisions on access arrangements and special consideration
You will make decisions on whether we investigate appeal requests, and if so whether we can uphold and resolve them through a preliminary stage investigation. You will help support and train the Compliance team and contribute to managing and improving OCRsappeal procedures, putting customers at their heart.The role will also involve working with the wider Compliance team to support its other functions as necessary. These include complaints, malpractice and special requirements. There is the choice to fill this position full time, or at reduced hours of 0.8of full time, for a period of 15 months.The Role
  • Investigate and make decisions on OCR appeals in line with Joint Council for Qualification (JCQ) procedures and industry regulation
  • Advise centres, internal staff and others on appeals processes and outcomes, keeping good relationships with OCR customers and external bodies
  • Lead part of the team on appeals through the summer series, ensuring the quality and quantity of the work meets OCRs requirements
  • Contribute to the management of the Appeals Committee and its meetings
  • Investigate, make decisions, and support the wider team on cases of suspected malpractice, according to OCR and JCQ procedures
  • Liaise with teams in OCR (especially Operations and Assessment) on matters relating to malpractice and appeals
  • Contribute to team statistical and qualitative reports on the processing of appeals or malpractice, including reports to the regulator
  • Share information on qualification performance from appeals and malpractice with assessment and subject specialists to support improvements in process and policy
  • Support the rest of the Compliance team in complaint handling and special requirements
About youQualifications
  • GCSE English and Maths to Grade C (4) or above
  • Educated to A Level or equivalent
Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good proven English and IT, particularly in letter writing
  • Ability to act on your own initiative and make your own decisions
  • Proven ability to manage a workload under pressure
  • Ability to investigate and analyse information impartially
  • Confidence with data handling and team reporting
  • Accuracy and an eye for detail
  • Confidence to work with staff at all levels across OCR and stakeholders
  • Proven process management skills
Experience
  • Working in education and/or with regulations is beneficial
  • Prioritising tasks appropriately
