Job Description

As Assistant Manager you will be joining a team whose work is varied and interesting within a fast paced and pressurised environment. Leading part of the team working on malpractice and appeals, the role of the Assistant Manager is crucial in ensuring thatour candidates receive the right results. You will also enjoy compiling, maintaining, manipulating and interpreting statistical or qualitative data from across the teams processes, presenting the data at various levels within the organisation as required.The Role

  • Maintain accurate data on malpractice and compile regular statistical and qualitative reports on the processing of malpractice or appeals, including reports to the regulator using various internal systems such as EPS
  • Lead and manage part of the team working on malpractice, ensuring the quality and quantity of the work undertaken meets OCRs requirements
  • Day to day management of workload and available capacity in the team and allocation of resource as required in conjunction with the Malpractice and Appeals Managers
  • Act as a point of escalation to support members of the team
  • Investigate, make decisions, and act as an escalation point for the wider team on cases of suspected malpractice, according to OCR and JCQ procedures
  • Advise centres, internal staff and others on malpractice processes and outcomes, building and maintaining a good relationship with OCR customers and external bodies
  • Share information on qualification performance gleaned from malpractice with Subject Advisors and Assessment Standards (Senior) Managers in order to support improvements in process and policy
About youQualifications
  • GCSE grade 5 English and Maths or equivalent
  • A levels or equivalent
Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle difficult customers with tact, diplomacy and empathy.
  • Accuracy and eye for detail
  • Good proven English and IT Skills
  • Proven process management skills
  • Ability to investigate, analyse and interpret information whilst maintaining impartiality.
  • Ability to collate, manipulate, interpret and present data
  • Proven team leadership and management skills
  • Ability to liaise with staff at all levels across different areas of OCR
  • Knowledge of EPS, Modman, Interchange and CAMS would be advantageous
Experience
  • Using Excel at an Intermediate to Advanced Level with use of some formulas and functions to manage data
  • Using your own judgement to make decisions
  • Working in a customer facing role
  • Managing complex processes and making decisions
  • Letter and report writing
  • Providing advice and guidance to customers and colleagues
  • Working in an investigatory field would be beneficial, as would experience of working within the education sector
