Our general and vocational qualificationsequip learners with the knowledge and skills they need for their future, helping them achieve their full potential.OCR is looking for a creative, customer-focused, collaborative Commissioning Editor to help deliver our strategy for growth by developing innovative new forms of support for our products.About the roleOCR is looking for a creative, customer-focused, collaborative Commissioning Editor to help deliver our strategy for growth by developing innovative new forms of support for our products.The commissioning team at OCR plan and co-ordinate the support for OCRs assessment products. Its our job to ensure that OCR and the publishers that we work with deliver the support that teachers need, when they need it. We are a tight-knit and forward-thinkingteam, and enjoy working collaboratively and sharing ideas.The Commissioning Editor for resources, training, and digital services will be an integral part of the team. Youll have responsibility for scoping, developing, and briefing new kinds of product support, and will work with colleagues across the organisationto identify the best way to meet a customer need. Youll work on our support proposition for a number of key products in the OCR portfolio, including the Cambridge Nationals and the forthcoming new GCSE Natural History. Once an idea has been scoped and testedthen youll work with colleagues in the production, training, and digital services teams to make it a reality.Youll ensure that our decision-making is driven by customer insight. Through ongoing insight work youll maintain a strong awareness of key trends and developing needs, both across our entire market and in key subject areas. Youll be involved in majorpieces of market research and lead specific market testing of new types of support to ensure they deliver what our customers need.Youll work with the Senior Commissioning Editor to develop and test the support surround for new and redeveloped qualifications and will also lead on managing our process around commissioning support improvements for existing products.This role offers great flexibility for growth & development, as well as the opportunity to make a significant, positive contribution to OCRs fast-developing support offer.Key responsibilities:
  • Implement the Product Support strategy by scoping concepts and developing briefs for new support resources and training. Ensure that this support meets customer needs, matches or beats competitors, and can be delivered at scale by our delivery teams
  • Carry out and analyse market research to inform the development of resources and training. Conduct ongoing customer and competitor insight work to ensure we stay close to our key markets and understand their key wants and needs
  • Develop the support proposition for key assessment products, working with internal and external stakeholders to identify and pursue opportunities
  • Carry out ongoing reviews, and quality assurance checks, of our offer and suggest improvements
  • Contribute to the project management and instructional design of new, Product Support led, resource types
  • Draft introductory and promotional copy, based on input from key stakeholders
  • Work with Resource Production
About you
  • Experience of publishing or resource development, for the UK schools/colleges market
  • Excellent relationship development, communication, and negotiation skills
  • The ability to conduct ongoing market research and analysis, and to use this to inform product development
  • An independent approach to work, balancing initiative, and decisiveness with awareness of when to seek guidance
  • Desirable: experience of instructional design concepts, methodology, and practice
