Job Description

Location: Flexible (we will consider applications from Coventry or Cambridge locations)OCR is looking for a creative, customer-focused, strategically-minded Commissioning Editor to drive forward our strategy for engagement with publishers of textbooks and digital educational resources.The commissioning team at OCR plan and co-ordinate the support for OCRs assessment products. Its our job to ensure that OCR and the publishers that we work with deliver the support that teachers need, when they need it. We are a tight-knit and forward-thinkingteam and enjoy working collaboratively and sharing ideas.The RoleA key aspect of the role will be managing our relationships with third-party textbook publishers, forging new relationships and deepening existing ones to ensure OCR products are well-supported by a wide ecosystem of resources. These relationships are crucialto the future success of OCR. This work will be correspondingly high-profile within the organisation and require active collaboration with a range of stakeholders.You will be responsible for leading our pro-active engagement with digital publishers. This will involve mapping the resource landscape and exploring ways to work with these third parties to develop resources that complement those that we produce internally,and which will support our strategy. This aspect of the role offers great potential for creativity and innovation.You will also oversee the OCR endorsement process of textbook, teaching and learning materials including digital materials. Endorsement by OCR is a mark of quality which indicates that a resource is valuable to our teachers and students. You will supervisethe work of the Product Support Administrator who facilitates this process.This role offers great flexibility for growth & development, as well as the opportunity to make a significant, positive contribution to OCRs fast-developing support offer.About You

  • Experience of publishing or resource development, for the UK schools/colleges market
  • Excellent relationship development, communication, and negotiation skills
  • The ability to conduct ongoing market research and analysis, and develop this into a strategic plan
  • An independent approach to work, balancing initiative, and decisiveness with awareness of when to seek guidance
