Cell Biologist - Gene DeliveryLocation: CambridgeContract: Full-time and permanentSector: Biotechnology / Drug DiscoverySalary: £26,000 - £28,000Positions available: 2Our client is an innovative biotechnology company based outside of the centre of Cambridge. They have built a platform to synthesis DNA which provides exciting possibilities for ensuring cheaper, faster and more accurate DNA / gene constructs than traditionalplasmid-based methods. In a key phase of their growth, our client is looking to onboard experienced Scientists in the field of cellular biologyThe OpportunityThis is an opportunity for a Scientist with a BSc or MSc and additional industry, or post-graduate experience in a cellular/biochemical biology setting. If you have experience in adherent and primary cell culture and are looking for the next step in yourcareer then this opportunity could be for you. As a Scientist within the cellular biology team you will be responsible for:

  • Maintenance of various cell lines simultaneously.
  • Nanoparticle handling and testing.
  • Conducting a wide range of cellular biology based experiments using immortalised, adherent and primary cell cultures.
  • Validation of transfected cells using flow cytometry, PCR, ELISA and western blotting.
  • Plan, refine and execute experiments which align with overall project plans.
  • Work individually and collaboratively within the R&D teams.
  • Play an active role in departmental meetings and development meetings.
  • Keep a comprehensive and up-to-date record of experiments and data/results
Skills and Experience NeededThe ideal candidate will have the following:
  • BSc/MSc in a biological discipline - Cellular or Molecular Biology (essential)
  • 2 years industrial experience in a relevant scientific field (essential, 1 year considered too)
  • Previous cell culture experience with mammalian and primary cell lines (essential)
  • Expertise in several of the following techniques: ELISA, qRT-PCR, Western blotting, Flow Cytometry (essential)
  • Experience in troubleshooting and developing laboratory protocols (desired)
  • Excellent communication skills (essential)
  • Existing right to work in the UK (essential)
