The Role:
  • Our client is a leading UK distributor of advanced life science research products.
  • As the Cell and Molecular Biology Business Manager you will take overall responsibility for the management and success of the cell and molecular biology portfolio.
  • You will set the long-term vision and strategy for the growth of your portfolio using data analysis, market research and by working with and supporting the key internal stakeholders (marketing, sales, customer service/finance) to develop and implement thesestrategies.
  • Have a strong understanding of your portfolio as a whole.
  • Identify opportunities (accounts, products, ranges, suppliers, tenders) from your existing portfolio using data analysis, market research and by working with key internal stakeholders (marketing, sales, customer service/finance).
  • Assess market competition compared to identified opportunities - Understand, identify target markets and position key product/ranges/suppliers.
  • Complete and bid for identified tenders.
  • Identify new, emerging and fast developing markets.
  • Identify gaps in your existing portfolio.
  • Identify new suppliers/products to meet identified market needs and fill gaps in your existing portfolio.
The Ideal Person:
  • Either a Ph.D. or extensive experience and knowledge of relevant cell and molecular biology techniques.
  • Extensive knowledge of the life science reagent market developed from a marketing/product management background.
  • A deep understanding of distribution channels and collaboration structures in this industry.
  • A passion for new life science technologies and the ability to determine which of these will be of greatest future importance.
  • Be results orientated with the drive to set and meet agreed objectives.
  • The ability to translate analysis into actionable, practical strategies.
  • The ability to prioritise and manage many projects at the same time whilst meeting agreed timelines.
  • A strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including well-developed listening, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Happy and able to travel regularly within the UK and occasionally internationally.
  • Full driving license.
