The Trust provides accessible high-quality healthcare for the local people of Cambridge, together with specialist services, dealing with rare or complex conditions for a regional, national and international population.The Clinical Genomics Laboratory at Cambridge University Hospitals has an exciting opportunity foraBioinformatician to join the clinical bioinformatics team within the Laboratory, and within the East Midlands and East of England Genomics Laboratory Hub, based in Cambridge.The East Midlands and East of England NHS Genomic Laboratory Hub (EMEE GLH) is one of seven Genomic Hubs recently established to provide the new National Genomic Medicine Service for NHS England.Led by Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, and working with Nottingham University Hospital and University Hospital Leicester, the EMEE GLH will offer a high quality service to deliver the tests listed in the National Genomic Test Directory, for a population of 10million. This includes diagnostic tests for inherited disorders and for cancer, disease monitoring and predictive tests, and inthefuture will include pharmacogenomic testing. The EMEE GLH is currently in a mobilisation phase, undergoing large scale change to consolidate several services on a single site.As part of this transformation we requireabioinformatician to help develop and introduce new tools to facilitate large scale, high throughput, high quality and efficient genomic analyses, interpretation and reporting.Additionally your role will include training ofbioinformatics trainees, and providing routine bioinformatic support and advice for the clinical genomics diagnostic service.You will work with a wide range of personnel within the department, across the region covered by the GLH, and with national bodies, including scientists, technicians, clinicians and academics.Closing date 28th May 2020Interviews 5th June 2020Benefits to youWe offer development opportunities and a wide range of benefits including on-site leisure facilities, shopping concourse, day nurseries and access to a great transport system with easy access to airports and rail travel.For further details of our fantastic benefits please refer to the attachment below - CUH Benefits.Please note if you would like to discuss the required hours of this role further, you should approach the contact given.
