Job Description

Director level cell line development, rapidly growing biotech in Cambridge. Technical and strategic position Your new companyYoull be joining one of the UKs leading biotechs, backed by more than $250 Million of funding and with an impressive portfolio of immuno-oncology drugs, they are experiencing strong growth and looking to add an experienced Associate Director / Director ofCell Line Development to their senior team.Your new roleThis is a permanent role, taking on leadership of projects related to cell line development using CHO cells. Youll be a go to expert for the UK site of the company and working closely with colleagues in the US. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Generating high quality cell lines for biologics production, ensuring everything is optimised for process development and cGMP manufacturing.
  • Lead end-to-end Cell Line Development for pipeline projects, including team leadership
  • Act as a technical expert on issues such as vector design
  • Developing new approaches and leading a team responsible for implementing these
  • Have a significant input into strategy for the companys cell line development efforts, including horizon scanning/identifying new technologies and approaches that can be implemented
  • Work with regulatory and process development colleagues on large scale projects.
What youll need to succeedAs well as a strong collaborative working style and good communication skills you should have:
  • A significant background in cell line development, with deep expertise from industry (eg a biopharmaceutical company or similar) in cell biology, vector development, process development and/or related areas
  • Very strong technical understanding of cellular biology and cell line development. (required)
  • Very good experience and understanding of gene editing tools, eg CRISPR for the generation of cell lines
  • An understanding of the regulatory requirements on biotech / biopharma products and their characterisation, with experience of regulatory submissions (from a technical standpoint) an advantage
  • Good knowledge of automation and high-throughput technologies
  • A track record of technical problem solving and/or innovation as applied to cell line development
  • A BSc / MSc or equivalent in biotechnology, biology or a related subject with a PhD a significant advantage
