Job Description

Looking for a 4-day week Our client has every Friday off working 32 hours per week!The purpose of this role is to work alongside the R&D team and to eventually take over from someone who has worked for our client for over 40 years and set to retire in the coming 3 years, therefore significant training and handover will be provided. Youwill be experienced in either Chemical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering specifically in the design or development of Refrigeration systems for heating and cooling, whether this be theoretical knowledge from university or hands on working experience.Location: South Cambridge, CambridgeshireSalary: £35,000 - £50,000 (Dependant on Experience)Hours: 32 hours per week, 4 day working week Monday - Thursday, Flex start and finish timesDuration: PermanentBenefits: Life Insurance 3 x salary, Pension Matched at 5%, 4 day working week, flexible start and finish times, 20 days holiday (excluding Fridays which is now closed)This vacancy would suit either a Graduate OR skilled Engineer and as such we will consider applications from various experience levelsWhat you will be doing:

  • Designing and developing new refrigeration, heating, and cooling products
  • Designing Natural refrigerants particularly R290, Capillary systems, Expansion valve systems, Electronic controls for refrigeration systems
  • Creation of regulatory framework for refrigeration equipment
  • Design for manufacture and safety (DFMA)
  • Optimising performance using real-time temperature and pressure data
  • Guide the design aspects of refrigeration systems in various R&D projects
  • Conduct the test programmes for future models, failure and fault analysis
  • Selecting components, such as compressors, expansion valves, heat exchangers
  • Reading and creating piping and instrumentation diagrams P&ID
About you:
  • Qualification in Electrical / Electronic Refrigeration/ Chemical Engineering - beneficial but not essential
  • Use of CAD - Solidworks
  • Good theoretical knowledge of refrigerant cycles (e.g., interpreting P-h curves, calculating cycle efficiencies, and performing heat transfer calculations)
  • Knowledge of F-GAS refrigeration standards and certifications
  • Competency with refrigeration system design software
  • Working to relevant standards that may influence the design, production, and service of the products e.g., IEC 61010, IEC 60335, IEC 61000, IEC 61326
  • Experience of working with hardware and software engineers to create complete integrated systems
