Job Description

Spencer Clarke Group are looking for a Year End Close Down Accountantto work with our local authority client in Bury!Contract – 3 – 6 months initial contract with the view to being extended to an ongoing basisSalary - £23.00 – 24.00 per hour – negotiable dependent on experienceAbout the role:

  • To support the Head of Corporate Planning with the provision of strategic, financial, technical advice and support to the organisation.
  • Supports Head of Corporate Planning and the Chief Accountant in the timely preparation and production of the grouped accounts in accordance with all necessary statutory and other reporting arrangements.
  • Support the delivery of core finance functions including budget and medium-term financial planning, managing the capital programme, bank and cash book processes, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting.
  • Maintain oversight of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and banking and cash management functions.
  • Provides advice and support in relation to VAT Taxation & Pensions, Treasury Management, Statutory Accounts, Treasury Management and Collection Fund Accounts.
About You:
  • Accounting qualification – CCAB membership or part qualified and studying towards a CCAB qualification
  • Understanding of political context and local government operations -the laws and regulations applicable to local government and its jurisdiction.
  • Experience of successful delivery of year end accounting requirements to produce statutory accounts with statutory timelines.
  • Experience of successful delivery of MTFS, Capital programs, HRA budgets and a variety of complex technical activities.
