Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Finance Department at Bury College for a Management Accountant to join us on a Permanent basis!The Management Accountant plays a crucial role in the success of the College, responsibilities include monthly management accounts, annual budgeting and financial planning and forecasting. As one of the key Finance Business partners to the College LeadershipTeam you will work closely with other colleagues to provide a comprehensive level of support. As part of that team, you will also provide support to the Head of Financial Services and Vice Principal Finance and Corporate Resources.Working in a dynamic, values led organisation, this role will be ideal for applicants with knowledge and experience in the sector and who are passionate about contributing to the Colleges mission to service the community through education and training.Responsibilities

  • Prepare and produce timely, accurate and meaningful monthly management accounts and reforecasts, commentary, supporting analysis, KPIs and variance reports
  • Provide budget holders with financial information which meets their needs
  • Answer queries from budget holders about their accounts and deal with ad hoc queries from the finance team
  • Prepare monthly accruals, prepayments, internal charges and other ad hoc journals
  • Assist with the collection and collation of information and data in order to assist with the preparation of the annual budget.
  • Update and ensure compliance with the Colleges Financial Regulations and associated operating procedure.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Annual Budget and Year End Financial Statements
  • Assist with both External and Internal Auditors as part of the annual audit cycle
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns
Person Specification
  • Possess a recognised CCAB professional accountancy qualification or equivalent; CCAB Finalists and exceptional candidates qualified by experience and with significant sector experience will also be considered.
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting systems and extensive spreadsheet experience
  • Experience working as a Business Partner with an understanding of and an ability to deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Flexible and responsive approach to working
  • Understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in work and the learning environment
  • Up-to-date occupational experience
  • Enhanced DBS check.
