Job Description

Quality Engineer sought by a global automotive manufacturing organisation serving customers in more than 150 countries, based at their Burton on Trent plant. This role will be days shifts, with occasional overtime available.The Role:Reporting to the Senior Quality Engineer, as Quality Engineer you’ll be responsible for fulfilling the quality related deliverables. Your duties will include:

  • Analysing customer returns, concerns and defects
  • Preparing and maintaining control plan for components and complete products
  • Performing Capability Studies and Process Audits
  • Using key Quality tools, PPS, A3, Ishikawa, Is/Is Not, Mini Tab, 5Y
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of the Operator Description Sheets (ODS)
  • Leading Problem Solving teams for Root Cause Analysis on Plant/Customer issues
  • Understanding supplier requirements for PPAP
  • Raising and managing quality documentation (quality alerts, PFUs etc)
  • The successful Quality Engineer should have most of the following:
  • 5 years’ experience within the Automotive Industry
  • 3 years’ experience within Quality area within a production environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject, or equivalent experience
  • Education and training in Quality disciplines including: QS9000, Continuous Improvement, Total Quality Management, PPAP, FMEA, Control plans, DOE and SPC are also required
  • Knowledge of the AIAG Quality planning and Control Plan standard, FMEAs, PPAPs, Dimensional Layouts, gage/fixture design and Performance/Material testing
  • Manufacturing Quality system experience and customer communication activities
  • Certification in Quality Engineering a plus
  • QS9000 Certified Auditor training is desirable
  • Able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of Problem Solving Tools and Techniques
  • Able to travel at short notice
  • Requirements may be waived based upon work experience
