Job Description

Job title: Product Support Engineer - rail systems / Brakes (field)Job location: Doncaster, Burton or Birkenhead. Salary: £41,760per annum + 15% for any night shifts. Hours: 45 hours per week - an element of flexibility will be required.Shifts: Monday to Friday days. Duration: Permanent.Start date: immediateClient Summary:Leading manufacturer and front-line supplier of powertrain products based in the UK and Ireland. Areas of expertise include Engine Overhaul, final Drive Overhaul and locomotive refurbishment.Job Purpose:Great opportunity to join an internationally renowned Rolling Stock company on a permanent basis.The key aim of the role is to provide maintenance on rail systems and brakes. You will attend breakdowns in the company van, diagnose the issue and through fault finding and diagnostics and provide solutions.The role will involve a degree of flexibility in regard to hours will be required, an element of on call will be required (every other weekend).There will be lots of travel between the main sites in Canton, Burton and Doncaster. Principle Responsibilities & Accountabilities:Conduct appropriate modification programmes on Company products.* First line dealing with support questions and advice made by customers* Must have an understanding of rolling stock brakes and trains systems* Driving to breakdown and diagnosing the problem.* Consulting with internal stakeholders and customers to get the right resolution for both parties.* Using knowledge of mechanical engineering to close out claims as soon as possibleThe successful candidate:* Will ideally have a minimum of 3 years mechanical experience working on large vehicles and their components - ideally Rolling stock.* Will have an understanding of brake systems. * Hold an NVQ Level 3 in some form of mechanical discipline.* Have a full clean driving license.* Will require six months training in Birkenhead. The package:* Basic salary is £41,760 per annum for a 45-hour week.* O/T is at a flat rate. (Anything over 45 hours).* On call pay is minimum of 3 hours pay.
