Job Description

Plant Engineer Salary: £14 - £15 per hour Location: Burton-On-Trent Job-type: PermanentWe are looking to speak with plant engineers based in the Burton-on-Trent area. You will be working for a leading independent domestic, industrial and commercial waste management company. Our client is a family-run company and have been providing waste and recycling solutions for over 30 year.As their plant engineer you will be dealing with the day-to-day servicing and maintenance of their plant vehicles and machinery, keeping the fleet running smoothly and minimising operational downtime all whilst ensuring the highest possible standards are achieved and maintained.The working hours are Monday – Friday 7am – 5pm or 6am – 4pm and every other Saturday from 7am – 12pm. The client will provide for PPE for working at the depot along with 20 days holiday allowance + bank holidays. There is access to a company vehicle when needed.Key requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Plant Engineer or Fitter
  • Experience in servicing, maintaining and repairing fixed and mobile plant
  • Ability to diagnose problems effectively and carry out necessary repairs to dealer’s spec
  • Experience in maintaining site vehicles
  • Diesel fault finding skills
  • Experience with ARC welding & gas cutting ability (desirable)
  • Waste industry knowledge/experience (highly desirable)
  • Electrical, Hydraulics and commercial vehicle knowledge would also be desirable.
  • Must show good initiative and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Key duties:
  • Execute preventative maintenance programmes
  • Deal with day-to-day servicing and maintenance of plant vehicles and machinery
  • Keeping the fleet running smoothly.
  • Minimise the operational downtime in the depot.
