An exciting opportunity has arisen for two experienced and motivated Paediatric or Learning Disability Nurses to join our Special Needs School Nursing Team in North and South Staffordshire.The team provides holistic nursing care for pupils with a wide range of learning disabilities, physical disabilities and neurological conditions as well as implementing the Staffordshire Children’s and Young Peoples Health and Well Being Programme.The successful applicants will work as an outreach nurse across the county providing support in the 25 special schools covered by the team. One post will be based in the North of the county, covering Leek, Newcastle, Stafford and Burton and one post will be based in the South of the county, covering Cannock, Wombourne, Tamworth and Lichfield. You will also be supporting team leaders in projects and policy and procedure delivery.Working as a member of a friendly, highly skilled team you will have the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of children and young people who have special needs and their families. You will be responsible for their healthcare needs during the school day and work in partnership with education colleagues in the school and with parents. You will also work collaboratively with the wider Multi Agency Teams to meet health, developmental and safeguarding needs of the children and young people. You will be instrumental in realising our vision to constantly strive to improve the healthcare provision within the special schools and be an integral part of the special school nursing team to enable these children to fully access education and so reach their full potential. Your role will include training of the education staff in meeting health needs of childrenIf you have experience of working with children, especially children with complex additional health needs, we would like to hear from you.Full skills record based training will be given to successful applicants.
