Mechanical Fitter - RailBurton Upon TrentGood base salary+ good overtime rates, good pension & excellent other benefitsINTRODUCTIONAs a world leading engineering company with a proven track record in providing advanced engineered solutions, predominantly to the rail industry (locos, not infrastructure), as well as tunnelling and construction, my client has a history and pedigree that spans more than a century.They have developed some novel equipment that is usually attached to locomotive and that provides additional capabilities and functionality to the locos.Due to an increased workload and a healthy order book, they are now looking to bring in an additional Mechanical Fitter to join their already impressive team.THE ROLEAs a Mechanical Fitter you will:• Be responsible for fitting components and similar mechanical fitting on a range of rail and associated equipment• Work from mechanical schematics to ensure the accurate fitting of systems to locomotives and associated systems and associated equipment• Carry out mechanical assembly on equipment that will subsequently be fitted to the locos and then fitting this equipment onto the main loco system• Carry out some electrical tasks (not electrical work but the mechanical aspect of connecting mechanical parts for the electrical systems); for example you may be feeding wires through a loco and will need to take off and re-attach internal panels• Advise the rest of the team (mechanical, Project teams etc.) on any mechanical issues or suggestions• Occasionally go to customer sites to provide on-site fitting and advice to their own teamsTHE PERSONIn order to be considered for this Mechanical Fitter role it is expected that you will have:• Relevant industry experience and the ability to work alone or as part of a small but enthusiastic team• Recognised industry qualifications relating to your craft• An ability to work from mechanical schematics / engineering drawings• Experience of discussing mechanical fitting matters with colleagues and offering solid advice on best practice• An ability to work with customer’s engineers, both verbal / written and face to face on site• An ability to work with multi-disciplined teams• A good understanding of site and workshop Health and SafetyExposure to mechanical fitting on Locomotives, similar rail orientated equipment or off-highway vehicles could be a distinct advantageTHE REWARDSIn addition to working with one of the world leaders in what they do, you will be rewarded with;
