Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a technology manager (IT Manager) to join a successful organisation in Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, on a 3 month contract period. You can work remotely although there will be a requirement to visit the Burton offices on occasion.As the Technology Manager, you will lead in the strategic growth of the technology systems working with 3rd party vendors to build and deliver a landscape that improves user and financial efficiency. Working closely with the business and maintaining great relationships, you will manage projects, monitor services and be the escalation point to achieve a seamless service. Maintaining PCI, Cyber Essentials and GDPR compliance as well as security best practice will be essential to success of the role.Responsibilities

  • Manage information technology and computer systems
  • Plan, organize, control, and evaluate IT and electronic data operations
  • Manage IT staff by recruiting, training, and coaching employees, communicating job expectations, and appraising their performance
  • Design, develop, implement, and coordinate systems, policies and procedures
  • Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
  • Act in alignment with user needs and system functionality to contribute to organizational policy
  • Identify problematic areas and implement strategic solutions in time
  • Audit systems and assess their outcomes
  • Preserve assets, information security and control structures
  • Track inventory and status for hardware and software throughout an organisation
  • Establish and maintain relationships with technology vendors, ensure SLA’s are achieved
  • Develop emergency plans for equipment, power, or security failure to preserve technology and data
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues related to internal IT
  • Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure
  • Help define IT infrastructure strategy, architecture, and processes
  • Analyse business requirements by partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to develop solutions for IT needs
  • Assess vendors and develop test strategies for new hardware and software
  • Handle annual budget and ensure cost effectiveness
  • Skills and experience required
  • Proven working experience as an IT Manager or relevant experience (5+ years)
  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
  • Expertise in data centre management, cloud technologies and data governance
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation
  • Experience leading and managing large IT projects and rolling out IT infrastructures across various technologies
  • Excellent working knowledge of computer systems, security, network and systems administration, databases and data storage systems, and phone systems
  • Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
  • Excellent project management skills and strong ability to prioritize
  • Firm grasp on IT infrastructure and operations best practices
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Understanding of complex information and requirements
  • Good prioritisation skills and be flexible enough to adapt plans
  • Good evaluation skills
