Job Description

A truly exceptional opportunity for a candidate with recent and extensive experience operating under US GAAP!I am delighted to present a unique JOB opportunity to work with THE employer of choice in Derbyshire. We have been engaged to recruit an INTERIM GROUP FINANCIAL CONTROLLER on a 6-9 month basis, starting ASAP.The role will pay a day rate of £500 - £750 per day and report to the Director of Accounting.There is flexibility on salary and start date for the right person.This is an incredibly exciting time to join the business as they embark on an organisation wide transformation programme.The working practice is HYBRID, ideally 3 days on site, 2 days from home with the HQ based in Derbyshire.Below is a synopsis of the key responsibilities and prerequisites for the role:

  • Must have experience managing business controllers and associated SG&A elements
  • Must have recently worked extensively in US GAAP in these areas
  • Must be able to guide revenue and COS accounting with the team
  • Must have strong understanding of supporting business accounting areas, including but not limited to inventory, capitalized software and fixed assets
Main Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of 5 direct reports (4 Financial Controllers and a Head of Transational Finance) who manage a wider team of nearly 25 staff in the finance team, including qualified, part qualified and clerical finance, covering all Business Segments, Treasury,Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
  • You will take full responsibility for the month-end process and ensure Controls and Processes of the team are to the highest standard from both an external audit and Sarbanes Oxley ("Sox") perspective
  • You will be a natural leader and people manager who helps to coach the team, driving individual performance and continual improvement with a strong emphasis on developing the team to work in a more autonomous way
  • You will quickly identify gaps in skill and work with the team to bridge these gaps
  • You ideally have had past experience of implementing ERP systems. Youll be able to identify system improvements that can help to refine financial processes, whilst also making sure that the integrity of that information is of paramount importance
  • Whilst generating the information is important, so is what you use it for! You will be someone who challenges the status quo and uses financial information to drive business outcomes and changes in behaviour across all levels of the organisations leadershipteam
Required Skills and Experience
  • A sound technical background
  • ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified with at least 5 years PQE
  • Highly computer literate and familiar with all Microsoft office tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent people skills and man management
  • Experience of implementing an ERP system
  • Working in a pressurised environment and to tight deadlines
  • Experience of working with US businesses and USGAAP essential
