Job Description

The RoleCapella Professional are supporting the growth of one of the largest international logistics providers by recruiting a Sea Freight Import Operator on behalf of their team in Burton on Trent.As an Import Operator, you will be responsible for arranging and receiving all import consignments on behalf of both international and external customers, in the most cost-effective and efficient manner. Dealing with all documentation, liaising with companypartners and customers, excellent customer service as well as efficient teamwork with internal functions will be needed to achieve required service levels.Specific Responsibilities

  • Accurate data entry using the bespoke company CRM.
  • Liaise with customers, other offices (locally and overseas), agents, shipping lines, and hauliers.
  • Take all incoming calls from both internal and external customers and respond to customer enquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Approve and arrange shipments via email and LOI.
  • Raise files for all import shipments ensuring data is accurate and distributed accordingly.
  • Complete required paperwork, including customs work and other essential import documentation.
  • Review customer booking and clearance instructions, ensuring these are understood and followed.
  • Ensure full understanding and strict compliance to customs processes and procedures.
  • Ensure all delivered instructions are clear, concise, and provided in the appropriate format.
  • Claiming of all shipments through use of external software packages such as Destin8 and CNS.
  • Process customs clearances using Sequoia.
  • Raise payment requests to relevant parties and query vendor invoices as required.
The Person
  • In-depth understanding of Sea-Freight products including Incoterms.
  • Substantial experience in the Freight Forwarding industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Dangerous goods trained (desired but not essential).
  • Able to demonstrate high competency computer skills in all areas of MS Office.
Additional InformationFull-Time (37.5 hours): Mon- Fri 9am - 5.30pm
