Job Description

As Group Leader you will supervise a small team (around 10 operatives) to ensure production is operated in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring all customers are supplied within the agreed delivery times. As Group Leader you will proactivelylead and manage both team and individual performance, ensuring production is working at the lowest cost, with the highest quality output.Key duties will include the following (not an exhaustive list):

  • Ensuring a safety culture across site, 5S standards are implemented and company procedures adhered to
  • Ensuring deliver of all agreed operating plans
  • Leading by example as a key agent for change and role model to lead, develop, motivate, coach and manage performance of direct reports
  • Carrying out appraisal, monitor absence, ensuring agree minimum staffing levels are met
  • Developing a culture of continuous improvement. Delivering performance improvements
  • Maximising equipment efficiency
  • Ensuring right first-time quality, reducing scrap and completing root cause analysis to ensure repeat failures are removed
  • Working closely with maintenance team and Production Planner
  • Investigating customer complaints. Ensuring root cause identified
  • Monitoring and managing consumable item spend
  • Carrying out daily reviews to minimise wastage
Key skills and experience required:
  • Strong background in manufacturing/engineering is essential
  • Good working knowledge of Lean/CI techniques - Kanban, SMED
  • Supervisory experience is essential, including improving individual and team performance
  • Good standard of education including GSCE (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • ILM Level 2/3 or equivalent would be beneficial
  • IOSH or equivalent qualification would be beneficial
  • Presentation/Train the Trainer skills/experience would be an advantage
Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 6.30am - 3.00pm (with some flexibility to meet business needs)Holidays: 25 days + bank holidaysExcellent pension scheme and overall package
