Machine Operator (with Reach FLT)An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation, our Global FMCG Client, the powerhouse behind Magnum, Solero, Cornetto and Ben & Jerrys, are currently seeking a Logistics Operative, based at Burton upon Trent.SalaryStarting pay rate is £14.30 p/hour rising to £14.90 p/hour. Payments made weekly.ShiftsMust be able to work on 4 on 5 off rotating shift pattern rotating 2 days/2 nights (weekend work but not on a Saturday), 39 hours per week. Must be flexible within pattern of shift work to accommodate factory shutdowns, training courses etc.This is a full-time temporary role to run for on an ongoing basis.Role SummaryThe Machine Operator is responsible for the safe operation of production equipment to deliver customer requirements through completion of the production plan, adhering to quality standards and maximising cost effectiveness, optimal running and equipmentefficiency. The Machine Operator will be expected to carry out cleaning and inspection activities and record any issues/problems with the equipment to pass to the Technical Operator to resolve. The Machine Operator should master the operation of a series ofmachines in order to provide factory resilience. They will also complete all accompanying stock movements on SAP and some logistics activity to bring raw materials to/from the warehouse adjacent to the packing line.Key Skills & Responsibilities

• Must have a valid certificate (within 3 years) - RTITB, ITSSAR or AITT (Reach)
• Strong knowledge and technical skills to operate machinery safely, effectively and efficiently
• Ensure targets and deadlines for production plans are met
• Keen awareness of safety and environmental procedures to ensure a safe working environment for the whole team.
• Full awareness of the workplace and hazards within it. Utilise all appropriate safety and environmental procedures for people, processes, materials, products and equipment relevant to the task.
• Minimise financial losses through careful waste management
• Minimise impact to health, safety and the environment through working to eliminate waste and through the correct management of waste and hazardous materials.
• Experience with quality checking. Must be able to monitor quality against set standards. Report any product and/or packaging faults. Detect process abnormalities quickly and take emergency action to prevent them.
• Ability to strive towards continuous improvement
• Knowledge and understanding of the key principles of WCM and an awareness of the tools used to identify and prioritise losses in the production area and eliminate them; role requires data collection. Monitor measures and performance after initial improvementsand take further action as required.
• A working knowledge of how to identify, prioritise and address problems using appropriate tools and techniques that eliminate recurrence. Must demonstrate initiative.
• Can make decisions to reject non-compliant products and to support the work plan for the day.
• Must be a good team player capable of working within a highly effective team; a responsible, supportive and able communicator.
• Conducts effective hand-over activities and records accurately events that have occurred during shift.
• Machine Operators require a level of agility to move quickly between workstations, ascend and descend steps. Assembly and control operations also require a level of hand eye coordination and finger dexterity.
