Job Description

Engineering BuyerBurton Upon TrentGood base salary, bonus, good pension & excellent other benefitsINTRODUCTIONAs a world leading engineering company with a proven track record in providing advanced engineered solutions to the rail, mining and tunneling industries, my client has a history and pedigree that sets them apart from their competitors.Due to a period of sustained growth and award of some prestigious contract they are now looking to build their team by the introduction of a suitably experienced Engineering Buyer for their Burton operation.THE ROLEAs an Engineering Buyer you will:

  • Be responsible for purchasing components and raw materials too be used in the building of bespoke rail vehicles
  • Parts include: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, machined components and off the shelf consumables
  • Supporting the Purchasing Manager on several projects at any one time, all at different stages
  • Working closely with established suppliers to ensure on time and accurate supply
  • Planning deliveries in line with the build schedule and progress chasing orders
  • Carrying out SQA activities based on low volume, high value supply or services
  • Occasional supplier visits to ensure the best commercial and service terms
    • THE PERSONIn order to be considered for this Engineering Buyer role it is expected that you will have:
  • Relevant “real world” purchasing experience within a low volume/ high value engineering environment
  • Experience of low volume / long lead time purchasing
  • Relevant qualifications (minimum GCSE grade 4 Maths and English) but industry qualifications would be an advantage
  • Proven experience of buying the components and equipment mentioned above
  • The ability to work closely with internal and external stakeholders
  • The ability to prioritise and manage your Ability to work with Microsoft NAV or similar ERP system and other I.T skills based around the usual Microsoft Office suite (Word / Excel / PowerPoint / Internet / Email etc.)
