Job Description

Buyer required. My client is a well established manufacturer of rolling stock solutions to the Mining and Aggregates sector. They are looking to recruit a Buyer due to continued company growth and envisage that the successfulcandidate will come from an established purchasing background and be based locally to Burton upon Trent.Buyer Position Overview

  • Purchase order placement based on Customers demand
  • Engage suppliers with RFQs at New Product Introduction stage
  • Purchasing for railway locomotives and related products for the mainline, industrial, mining and tunnelling industries.
  • Working with Products ranging from 2 tonne to 135 tonne, powered by Diesel, electric, battery or hybrid technologies
  • Purchasing a wide range of parts including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and machined items; off the shelf parts; services and consumables
  • Consolidate supply base and lead resource project
  • Support and improve PPM target
  • Mitigate cost increase risks
  • Ensure NPI project deliveries on time
  • Progression to Purchasing Manager role available
Buyer Position Requirements
  • Previous Purchasing / Buying experience in a manufacturing environment is essential
  • Engineering or design understanding
  • Experience working with Low Batch,, Long Lead time bespoke solutions
  • Any experience with Rolling stock solutions would be advantageous
  • ERP experience would be beneficial
  • Based within a commutable distance of Burton upon Trent
  • Full UK Driving Licence
Buyer Position Remuneration
  • Salary £30,000 - £35,000 DOE
  • Monday to Thursday - 7:30 - 16:00 Friday 7:30 - 12:30
  • 25 days holiday plus public holidays
  • Pension
