Job Description

Electrical SupervisorLocation - South DerbyshireSalary - Hourly rate - plus mileage allowanceDuration - On going, potential to lead to a permanent positionSellick Partnership are working with a housing association based in the South Derbyshire area to assist with recruiting a Electrical Supervisor who will be responsible for the overall co-ordination and supervision of the electric responsive, improvementand planned maintenance work.Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To ensure that the organisation complies with its legal and regulatory obligations in relation to compliance.
  • To ensure the delivery of an effective and appropriate service to all service users, fairly and without discrimination.
  • Co-ordination and supervision of improvement and planned maintenance work to the organisation housing stock.
  • Responsible for determining the day to day and void property electrical works, planned works, active fire protection works and door access (electrical, fire and security) working in conjunction with the Property Inspectors, the Asset & Improvements Managerand the Repairs Manager justifying actions as required.
  • Provide technical expertise and professional services in support of achieving a high standard of maintenance and improvement of the organisation housing stock.
  • Provide cover for other Project Officers and Property Inspectors.
  • Responsible for the electrical and fire safety of tenants, staff, and operatives.
  • Responsible for EICR programme, Rewire Programme, Fire detection programmes (part 1 & 6), Sprinkler and maintenance system (maintenance and installation), Void electricals, day to day electrical repairs, door access installation and electrical heating programme.
  • Responsible for Portable appliance testing to community rooms, communal blocks, and housing stock.
  • To support the achievement of the organisations Corporate Plan, observe Corporate Values and promote environmental sustainability.
  • Provide advice, information and attend meetings and training as required.
  • Exercise stewardship of the highest order in relation to budgets and other resources in pursuance of the organisation aims and objectives and in accordance with the organisations Standing Orders and Financial Regulations, including the co-ordination, production,management and monitoring of the services budget and performance.
  • To adhere to and ensure the appropriate compliance with the organisations Health & Safety Policy.
  • To support, promote and comply with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion actions and requirements when undertaking the duties of this post.
  • To comply with the Employee Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards.
  • To respect the sensitivity and confidentiality of any information that they may have access to regarding clients/customers in adherence with the Data Protection policies of the organisation.
  • Undertake such other duties commensurate with the experience of the postholder and the grading of the post as may be reasonably delegated from time to time.
Specific Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, supervise, and certify completion of the works for the electrical responsive and planned maintenance and improvement works to the housing stock.
  • To carry out property inspections and prepare documentation in the form of Schedules of Work, forming part of any improvement and/or planned maintenance work.
  • Survey / issue / supervise / monitor and quality inspect the works carried out by the Electrical contractor undertaking the rewire contract.
  • To liaise with and assist in the work of all nominated members of the housing team, including Property Inspectors, other consultants and public utilities associated with improvement and planned maintenance works.
  • To collect property information to enable the housing stock condition database to be kept up to date.
  • To carry out regular checks on the Electrical safety certificates submitted by the contractors/workforce to ensure they comply with the necessary legislation.
  • To carry out regular site inspections of the contractors/workforce to ensure they comply with the necessary legislation.
  • To deal with queries from Councillors and members of the public courteously and in a helpful manner.
  • Be the Councils principal duty holder for electrical works.
  • To participate in Best Value Reviews.
  • Handling conflict and contentious issues: Investigate, mediate, and negotiate on any complaints or requests from tenants and contractors. Working within the organisation policy documents, regulations and the tenancy agreement.
  • Provide technical advice, to tenants, contractors, and colleagues.
  • Supervision of contract staff with the authority to insist on the contractor taking disciplinary action against and employee of that employee from the organisations contract.
  • Hold frequent meetings with the contractor where all issues are resolved.
  • Ensure adherence to organisations, Safety policies and procedures, e.g., Health and Safety Legislation requirements, risk assessments and codes of practice.
  • Review contractor valuations and payments: liaise with the Quantity Surveyor to agree variations and ensure the contractor remains within budget.
  • Involvement in the void process ensuring a fast turnaround for empty properties, this involves working alongside the Property Inspectors and Repairs Manager.
  • Review the fire home safety checks as supplied by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue
