Job Description

Design EnigneerBurton-upon-Trent£38,000 to £45,000 DOE + Holidays + Bank Holidays + Pension 38.5 Hours per week. Monday to Thursday, 7.15am to 4pm. Friday early finish, 12.45pm.DesignEngineer required for a friendly and growing engineering Company. The Company isa supplier of products for trailers and industrial applications.Offering an exciting and varied role.The Design Engineer Role:

  • CAD design and development of products - considering materials, the economics of production, safety, legal requirements, quality and production requirements.
  • Creation, development and management of technical drawings and models using a designated CAD package such as Solid Edge.
  • Assisting with Regulatory and Statutory Approvals including Whole Vehicle Type Approval. Working in conjunction with internal and external parties and ensuring a high standard of communication is maintained.
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers, and colleagues (sales, production, stores and quality) regarding technical and design issues.
  • Part number creation on the ERP System.
  • Bill of Material (BOM) creation within the ERP System.
  • Maintenance of Commodity Codes and Part Weights within the ERP system.
  • Work Instruction creation, review, and amendment.
  • Issuing pre-prepared Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) and control of NDA data and documentation.
  • Change note creation, issue, and distribution.
  • Technical documentation issue, approval, and control.
The SuccessfulDesign Engineer:
  • Previous experience working within a mechanical engineering environment.
  • High level of IT literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Have a strong understanding of engineering drawing principles.
  • Qualified to an HNC, HND or equivalent in Engineering.
