Digital Service Desk Analyst EngineerLocation: Bedford, Chelmsford, and NorwichJob Type: TemporaryDuration of booking: This is expected to till March 2023Proposed start date: ASAPSector: HealthcareBase: HospitalBand: 5Pay Rates: £12.00 to £15.00 paye per hour£13.00 to £16.00 paye inclusive of Holiday Pay£14.00 to £17.00 umbrella per hourWorking Days and Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, 37.5 hours a weekJob Summary

  • Reporting to the IM&T Service Desk Specialist/Team Manager the post holder will provide second line technical support to the Trusts IT users located across all sites.
  • The post holder will ensure a range of IM&T information is processed in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • The post holder will be expected to provide second line technical support regarding end user devices, peripherals, and associated software packages. These tasks will include, but are not limited to, installation, maintenance, upgrades, fault diagnosisand repair. It is possible the post holder may be required to travel to the Trusts other sites for work purposes.
  • The post holder must possess excellent communication skills and understand the importance of providing outstanding customer service. Post holders are required to work efficiently and professionally under pressure. The role requires strong organisationalskills and the ability to make decisions while balancing the varying priorities of open IT Incidents and Requests.
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsibility for Patient/Client Care - contact with patients is incidental.
  • Responsibility for Policy/Service Development - makes proposals on IM&T systems, reports, and training policies, eg the use of different equipment/software/web technology, reporting methods, training practices, which have an impact on own and other areas.
  • Responsibility for Financial and Physical Resources - responsible for the proper and safe use of IT equipment by users, responsible for expensive IT equipment and software/Installation, repair, and maintenance of IM&T equipment.
  • Responsibility for Human Resources - allocates work to more junior staff in the section, provides training for staff from own or other disciplines on own subject area.
  • Responsibility for Information Resources - interprets data, creates reports, designs, develops, or programs and maintains computer systems, maintains user IT accounts and system rights, maintains computer hardware, eg desktops, cabling, servers, printers,development of IM&T training package/modification or creation of aspects of information systems or hardware, eg changing modules within a reporting system, IT systems.
  • Responsibility for Research and Development.
  • Responsibility for asset management tasks across the life cycle of Trust IM&T hardware, including asset tagging and updating CMDB with new and decommissioned equipment.
