Job Description

JOB TITLE: UNIX System Administrator CAREER DEVELOPMENT PATH: Assistant Managing or Specialising REPORTING TO: UNIX Infrastructure Manager (Maintenance)SUMMARYThis is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious person to join our UNIX Maintenance team as a UNIX Administrator. You will be helping to support our client facing platforms and internal infrastructure ensuring that we deliver a stable and performant environment to our clients.ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maintenance of the firms Linux/UNIX infrastructure which supports the firms website, core back office, and CRM systems
  • Troubleshooting problems
  • Provide technical assistance to other teams
  • Implementation of system changes
  • Operating system patching and maintenance
  • EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
  • Configuration management systems (e.g. puppet/chef)
  • Source control software (e.g. Subversion, Git)
  • Scripting e.g bash, sh, python
  • Linux Administration (Centos or Redhat)
  • Solaris 10 administration
  • Shell scripting (bash, python, perl, or ksh)
  • Understanding of virtualisation technologies e.g. VMware
  • Extensive experience as a system administrator working on Linux or UNIX based systems
  • Good numerical skills
  • Organised
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively manage own workload
  • Ability to work well in a team
  • Degree educated in an IT related discipline
  • System monitoring (e.g. Opsview / Nagios)
  • Experience in a financial services environment
  • Experience in an environment governed by PCI-DSS
  • Relevant IT professional qualification such as RHCSA, RHCE
