The Internal Technical SupportSystems Engineering Team are looking for Engineers to join Defence Equipment & support (DE&S) to work closely with clients across a range of delivery teams to help solve some of the most complexproblems in Defence. The Internal Technical SupportSystems Engineering Team continues to exceed client expectation, providing novel or system engineering solutions to challenging problems. As part of this team, you will have the opportunity to work acrossthe entire project life cycle and be instrumental in helping clients translate military customer needs into clear technical and contractual requirements and enjoy a variety of work with the ability to support several platforms and engage a vast number of stakeholders.You will oversee delivery, develop robust acceptance plans, and solve in-service problems. For over five years, the Internal Technical Support Team has provided consultancy support across a range of projects, including the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers,P-8A Poseidon Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Maritime Mine Warfare, Maritime Command and Control, Submarines, Typhoon Fast Jets, Tactical Data Links, Guided Weapons, Challenger 2 LEP, Skynet and Air Defence Systems and space and land-based intelligence, surveillanceand reconnaissance. As well as broader improvement projects including developing an approach and way of thinking to coordinate activities to realise value from assets, drawing a line of sight through the organisation. Responsibilitiesfor Systems Engineer As a Professional Engineer, you will collaborate with colleagues to deliver and support our military capabilities, working alongside delivery teams to support routine activities and respond creatively to emerging challenges. You will developa range of system engineering products, including requirements documents, integrated test and evaluation plans, innovative system and capability architectures, and engineering management plans. You will be supported to ensure that these products meet yourclients needs, addressing the unique situation each project faces. You will help to drive some of the most complex and critical programmes forward, making a real difference to lives in the UK and abroad, and advancing state of the art systems engineering.The responsibilities of a Systems Engineer may include, but not be limited to, the following: * Explaining complex issues in a simple and compelling way to clients * Support the development of innovative solutions to complex problems by thinking across technicaland professional disciplines * Support Task Leaders in the development of task artefacts in line with task deliverables * Support the development of engineering technical and wider system artefacts * Understand and maintain awareness of individual taskingand provide regular progress updates to task leads * Support the wider Internal Technical Support model through associated duties (Such as workplace buddies, diversity and inclusion, support to Continuous Improvement) * Ensure timely updates of managementtools as directed by Line Manager * Continuous professional development and driving your career forward using our supportive learning environment, career planning tools and Function Development Officers to help you unlock your own potential What you will beassessed against To be successful with your application you must demonstrate that you meet the following essential criteria: You will hold a minimum of a Level 4 qualification (e.g., HNC or higher) in a relevant Engineering or Science discipline, or have equivalentrelevant experience including but not exhaustive: Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics and Control Systems, Communication Systems, Networks and Software, Systems Engineering and Systems ThinkingYou will have experiencein a technical environment and understand the inter-dependencies and interrelationships between systemsYou will have demonstratable experience of Time bound task delivery It will also benefit your application if you are able to demonstrate the followingdesirable criteria: In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competencies and behaviours will be assessed at interview: Technical Decision Making (Supervised Practitioner)Application of Analytical Techniques (Supervised Practitioner) Communicating and influencingSeeing the big picture Whats in it for you Our careers offer stability, training, progressionand much more!
