Job Description

About the roleA leading Defence client of ours is in the market for a Software Team Lead to join a growing business unit within their UK team. The role will encompass the full software development lifecycle, from requirements capture, analysis, design, and delivery. TheSoftware team lead will be part of defining future simulation design for the Royal Navys synthetic training requirements for the next decade.The role will be based out of there Bristol office with the opportunity to travel internationally on occasion (Expenses covered)Your Main Responsibilities

  • Recruiting a team of developers and establishing team practice and conventions.
  • Leading on all technical aspects of the software product life cycle: Requirements analyses, Design, Implementation, Testing, Integration, and delivery.
  • Managing team budget and schedule.
  • Actively Involved in systems-level decisions outside of the software domain (such as hardware architecture, network, etc).
  • Reviewing and producing technical documentation.
Your Experience (E - Essential & D - Desirable)
  • Experience leading a development team (E)
  • Proficient in OOP using C++, design patterns and solid design principles (E)
  • Knowledge in networks (UDP, TCP, Multicast/Broadcast, ect) (E)
  • Ability to dive into existing systems code base (E)
  • Experience with developing a soft real-time constrained system (E)
  • Experience in development of simulation systems (D)
  • Software Tools - Visual studio, Jira, WireShark, Dependency Walker (D)
  • Experience working in Agile Methodology (D)
  • Experience with recruiting and mentoring junior developers (D)
