Our Client is a dynamic and rapidly growing company in the UK defence sector, renowned for excellence in complex program delivery. They are currently seeking an experienced Software Safety Assurance professional to join their team and lead the developmentof the in-house Software Safety Assurance capability.Role Overview: The role of lead in Software Safety Assurance capability is a pivotal position that will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the company. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned Principal Consultant or an ambitiousprofessional ready to advance their career to the next level.Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting Safety Assessments throughout the full lifecycle on software or programmable element-intensive safety-critical systems. They will also develop Functional Safety strategiesacross multiple domains and applications, coach and mentor junior team members, provide technical leadership on projects, tenders, and quotations, and ensure customer satisfaction, fostering repeat business. Additional responsibilities include supporting recruitment,training, and mentoring initiatives, leading business-winning activities, account management, and growth efforts, and contributing to the definition and achievement of business objectives. Exploring prospects for alliances and partnerships to exploit new opportunitiesis also a key aspect of the role.Required Experience: The ideal candidate will possess significant experience and knowledge of applying safety standards such as IEC 61508, 62061, 61511, Def STAN 00-055, ARP 4754A, DO-178C, or DO-254. Proficiency in systems and software engineeringprocesses, techniques, or languages is required, along with experience in one or more of the following defence domains: Air; Land; Sea; Ordnance, Munitions, and Explosives; Nuclear. Previous consultancy and business-winning experience is essential.Required Skills: The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong customer focus, adept at eliciting and understanding requirements. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial. They should be organised and autonomous,with the ability to manage tasks, budgets, and changing priorities. An optimistic and driven approach, with the capability of leading teams and collaborating as a team player, is highly desirable. The ability to apply core experience and skills to new domainsand quickly understand new domain regulations and requirements is also key.Location: The position may involve working from the office (Bristol/Manchester), client sites, and home.
