Job Description

As a Senior Reconciliations Specialist, you will lead the Reconciliations function who are responsible for internal and external client money and custody reconciliations and the safeguarding of custody assets across the HL group. You will ensure the highest levels of compliance with CASS, safeguarding (EMR and PSR) and MiFID at every touchpoint in the Reconciliations function; whilst also driving positive outcomes for HLs clients and colleagues through engagement with the wider business and third parties. As a Senior Reconciliations Specialist, you will provide leadership and direction to immediate reports (Operations Managers) and the Reconciliations function as a whole; create an environment which achieves consistently high levels of performance, accountability and colleague engagement; and evolve the reconciliations function using technological solutions to achieve smarter, efficient and effective regulatory reporting.Role Accountabilities

  • Responsible for ensuring the Reconciliations function achieves compliance with CASS, EMR, PSR and MiFID rules.
  • Accountable for the delivery of service targets through appropriate resource, process, third party and risk management.
  • Lead and develop people, drive engagement, promote diversity and inclusion, develop talent and manage succession planning within the reconciliations function; role model the HL values and support career progression and development opportunities.
  • Continually optimise reconciliation processes and capabilities to improve regulatory compliance and drive efficiency. Make business cases for investment or development of capability, as appropriate.
  • Accountable for running an effective control environment, overseeing processes and controls which ensure good client outcomes, operate in accordance with reconciliation policies.
  • Responsible for ensuring Reconciliations processes comply with relevant regulation and legislation; actively scan the internal and external environment and keep knowledge up to date.
  • Qualifications and knowledge
  • Essential: Degree
  • Desirable: Qualified Accountant (or equivalent)
  • Excellent business, CASS and operational knowledge
  • Skills and competencies:
  • Excellent communicator and leader; able to engage positively with colleagues at all levels and third parties.
  • Highly numerate, with sound analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to understand and simplify complex problems and implement innovative, compliant solutions.
  • Leadership experience within a CASS Reconciliations environment and have an in-depth knowledge of CASS 6 (including ISEM), 7 and CMAR.
  • Experience managing internal and external relationships and networks including regulators.
  • Experience managing to drive positive outcomes for regulatory environment, colleagues and the business.
  • An approachable, collaborative leader, who is able to motivate others and empower the team appropriately.
  • Able to delegate effectively and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Proven track record of delivering operational change, and comfortable working on large scale projects, identifying stakeholders needs, and owning risks.
  • Decisive, yet collaborative and able to communicate clearly and effectively with the team, internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Highly proficient working with complex quantitative and qualitative data, and ability to use this to run the function and enhance the processes and capabilities.
