We are looking for great people to join us, so please come and invest in YOUR future at HL.About the roleThe role is responsible for being the Subject Matter Expert on network equipment, cabling, configuration, and associated tools, ensuring that they are maintained to an enterprise standard and fit for purpose to meet business demands.We are on a journey towards full hybrid cloud, between on-premise physical servers, VMWare, AWS, and Azure. This role will form a senior position in the Network team providing support and operations across this hybrid cloud environment.We are looking for a strong senior network and security engineer, capable of taking the lead, whilst driving the network strategy forwards to align with our business transformation. You will have an opportunity to work with tier 1 products and be supportedwith resource capacity to deliver against demand.What youll be doing

  • Working as part of a team of high performing technology specialists, accountable for technical leadership across the Network Team
  • Supporting the Enterprise technologies that provide Mission Critical services to our internal business and customer facing systems including participation in the on-call rota
  • Technical lead for WAN, LAN, VPN, Proxy, Load Balancers, Firewalls, etc, providing them as a service to other IT teams
  • Providing technical leadership, direction, and strategy, aligned with business objectives across all technologies in scope for this team
  • Creating, driving, managing and operating processes to ensure performance, capacity and availability are managed effectively to exceed business objectives
  • Integrating our infrastructure management processes with DevSecOps technologies to bring robust automation to our infrastructure management
  • As a Senior Engineer, within your SME technology remit, you will be responsible for:
  • Being the technical escalation point for Incident/ Major Incident and Problem Management
  • The ongoing management and optimisation of monitoring and alerting services
  • Technical approval for Change Management procedures to support impact analysis and provide governance on changes requested by the team
  • Creating and owning components of the technology roadmap and infrastructure architecture strategy
  • Creating and managing Technical IT documentation, including standards, policies and processes
About you
  • Providing technical leadership, direction and strategy, aligned with business objectives across all technologies in scope for this team
  • Expert level experience of Enterprise networks, including good knowledge of WAN, LAN, VPN, Proxy, Load Balancers, Firewalls
  • Experience of creating, operating and maintaining mission critical platforms
  • Experience of other enterprise infrastructure technologies beneficial, including physical servers, hyperconverged infrastructure, storage, databases
  • An analytical approach with the ability to pre-empt potential problems and identify inefficiencies
  • Strong mentoring skills, workload management, training needs analysis, personal development of self and others
  • Identifying and driving process improvement within the team
  • Managing workloads, identifying and allowing for technical, regulatory and business priorities
  • Strong communication skills both within the team and to external stakeholders
