Job Description

Senior Electronics and Software Engineer (Embedded, Microprocessors)Bristol Salary £45k - £55kOur clients are experts in the design and development of electronic products for a broad range of industry sectors achieving electronic design objectives and bringing new products to market, providing outstanding customer service and sector specific expertise in electronic system design, prototyping services, mechanical design and small batch production.They are looking to recruit a Senior Electronics and Software Engineerwith a passion for electronics and software design and finding new ways to solve unique problems to join the busy and successful Design Department, working across multiple live projects and responsible for designing and developing innovative systems.The Role

  • Working on several live projects for a variety of customers, developing and designing systems aimed at revolutionising a range of industry sectors.
  • Design electronic circuits using Altium Designer
  • Write design specifications for a variety of different products.
  • Design and code embedded software for a variety of different platforms
  • Responsible for testing and debugging own work.
  • Support team members to enable best practice and the continual improvement of the company’s design services.
    • Candidate Profile
  • Experienced engineer who is hard-working, driven, and able to work alongside the wider teams within the business to ensure projects are delivered on-time and within budget.
  • Able to prioritise workload and seeks excellence through high quality workmanship.
  • Degree level qualification and 4 years’ experience or a minimum of 6 years’ experience.
  • Familiar with microprocessor / microcontroller architectures and peripherals (Ideally Microchip).
  • Extensive experience in both electronic and embedded software design.
    • Skills and Experience
  • Writing hardware requirements / design / test specifications
  • Microcontroller circuit design
  • Microprocessor circuit design - ARM based, DDR, NAND flash etc
  • Analogue circuit design - opamps etc
  • Power supply design - linear and switched mode using off the shelf devices
  • Schematic entry into a CAD system (Altium preferred)
  • Simulation (LTspice, TINA-TI or similar)
  • Embedded software design in C’
  • Realtime operating systems for embedded platforms
  • Software version control systems
  • Software design (UML etc)
    • Other useful skills
  • EMC test experience / designing to minimise EMC issues
  • Altium PCB layout experience
  • Hardware design with FPGAs / VHDL
