Job Description

At National Highways, were looking for a Senior Electrical Inspection and Assurance Manager to represent the interests of National Highways to provide management and direction to supply chain specialist inspection team, providing guidance, defining thework of the team to ensure delivery of inspections and collection of asset data in line with relevant standards and assure construction / maintenance site works at M48 Severn Bridge, M4 Prince of Wales Bridge and M5 Avonmouth Bridge. Assuring supply chainquality and H&S compliance in the delivery of works.The role may be required to work unsociable hours.You will be required to drive as part of your role and you will need to have a full clean driving license to be considered for this position and during employmentWhat youll be leading on

  1. To represent the interests of National Highways on construction / maintenance site works at M48 Severn Bridge, M4 Prince of Wales Bridge and M5 Avonmouth Bridge, ensuring contractors maintain compliance with relevant National Highways policies, procedures,Quality Management System (QMS) and Safe Methods of Working at all times, and take actions to resolve and/or escalate non-compliance.
  2. Ensuring planning, delivery and reporting on all inspections schedules in line with agreed timescales, budgets and procedures and to ensure that all inspection findings are recorded in the relevant systems and meet data capture standards.
  3. Determination of potential asset remedial repairs and urgency for incorporation to the annual maintenance plans.
  4. Managing the delivery of timely inspections for asset repairs, and ensure that any delays, reoccurring quality issues or concerns are resolved or escalated, as appropriate.
  5. Representing the interests of National Highways on construction / maintenance site works at M48 Severn Bridge, M4 Prince of Wales Bridge and M5 Avonmouth Bridge, assuring supplier performance and the completion of planned works to agreed standards, andescalate any concerns to Operation & Maintenance Manager in line with agreed governance agreements.
  6. To sign off completion of works or necessary deviations from planned works, in line with agreed tolerance and governance levels, escalating to Engineering& Construction Manager when required.
  7. To ensure that construction works comply with CDM regulations, HSE Legislation and Chapter 8 requirements, ensuring that Principal Contractor (PC) duties are properly discharged by the relevant parties.
  8. To ensure Engineering & Construction Manager, Business & Service Manager and Commercial & Procurement colleagues receive regular and timely feedback on remedial works and scheme progress, risks, early warnings and issues.
  9. Carry out the preparation of reports, records and support information in respect of maintenance and construction work.
  10. To represent the interests of Highways England with regard to customer service and ensure all works are undertaken with due regard to the needs of the local population within the immediate vicinity of the works and the travelling public as a whole.
  11. To ensure the health and safety needs and wellbeing of employees, contractors are fully considered and accounted for throughout works process.
  12. Support the Engineering & Construction Manager in the development, control and monitoring of the routine annual maintenance programme.
  13. To carry out such other duties which are consistent with the nature and responsibilities of this role.
To be Successful
  • Extensive bridge maintenance/remedial experiences OR Recognised electrical engineering qualification (desirable)
  • Good understanding of DMRB
  • Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), Site Management Safety Training
  • Scheme (SMSTS) or Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)
  • Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) - Gold
  • Knowledge of CDM
  • Understanding of temporary traffic management (Chapter 8)
  • Valid Driving Licence
  • Ability to work outdoors and at height.
